With the scrapping of the Carbon Tax, it was purported by the current government that there should be a savings of around 12% on energy bills.
I got a letter from my electric and gas companies saying that there will be a decrease of about 3% and 6%, respectively. It’s not that much considering how the Carbon Tax was so dressed to be the cause of exorbitantly high prices of everything.
So reading about the potential and eventual increase in gas prices, the cheaper option to electricity, is having that bubble burst. I am all for being responsible for the planet we live in. It is the wise option to take.
Although, I have said a few times that I think the damage we have done to the planet is irreparable. We are a very destructive specie and while we can blame this on not having enough information in the past, I’m not sure if this reason in the modern times is still usable.
It says that Victoria has the highest consumption of gas as compared to other states. Obviously, Tasmania is colder but they do not have the population to to win the title. Victoria generally has colder winters and milder summers and have a population of over 5 million people so this should not be a revelation that gas usage is higher than the rest of the country.
