When I first got a call from Jason and Autumn, they mentioned they have family here in Melbourne and I was reluctant to take them on just because they mentioned they have family here in Melbourne. My thinking is that if you have family and friends who have the time to go inspect houses on your behalf, then choose this option. Friends and family will usually do this for free. They could hold this over you and you’ll feel obligated to them for a number of years but monetarily, it might just cost you a beer or dinner. On top of that, I’d like to believe that your friends and family will know your style and preferences quite well. This is why exchanged a couple more calls before we all decided that we can work together to find their new rental home in Melbourne.
It probably is not the best business plan when the service provider gives the customer other options. But despite wanting to be a successful business, I really prefer to not create more stress for people who are relocating to Melbourne. While other companies are there solely to make money, I’d like to think we are in the business not just for that.
We went through a few suburbs because the office of where Jason is moving to is quite far out from central Melbourne CBD. Autumn would like to be able to have her family still in the pulse of the city but far enough that it isn’t hectic. We narrowed it down to an area with excellent schools, larger homes, close to trams and train and was under a 30-minute drive to work.
A week after they moved in, they sent this email which I am mostly grateful for. They are the kindest people and a real loving family and I am extremely blessed to be a part of their new life in Melbourne.
“We couldn’t recommend Finders Keepers enough. We were relocating from Christchurch to Melbourne, after traveling over for a long weekend to look at rental properties and areas we may like to move into we soon came to realise it was an impossible task in one weekend and it was going to cost us a small fortune in travel to be flying over every time a property took our fancy.
So we hired Winneth. He was an angel in disguise of a patient rental property guru. He helped steer us into an area that fitted our criteria of a great family feel and excellent schools. Fulfilled my wishes of being in walking distance of trains and trams and being near enough to my husband’s work so his daily commute was under half an hour. And managed to do all of this within our budget.
In such a stressful time Winneth was a rock. He kept a clear head and was always happy to answer any questions or settle our nerves. Once the house was all signed up he also sorted water/power connections and internet. It was lovely to finally arrive to our new home with Winneth’s smile greeting us all. Thank you Winneth we couldn’t have done it without you and wish well for the future.”
And to celebrate, we may or may not have drank red wine in a McDonald’s paper cup. No shame there.
